My name is Loralee Burns and I help Outdoor Enthusiasts buy and sell country property in the beautiful Cowichan Valley on Vancouver Island, BC.
Growing up on a small hobby farm in rural Maple Ridge, BC, I’ve always loved all the things a country lifestyle has to offer. And even though life has taken me to different places with many unique experiences … including living the caravan lifestyle with my family in New Zealand for a whole year … which, I’ll have to tell you about one day … there’s nothing like living on the island!
It almost seems like people aren’t in as much of a hurry here and time passes just a little bit slower...
I remember purchasing my very first home - I worked as a server back then and managed to buy a little townhouse. I renovated it all on my own, decorated it and made it all trendy … and I’ve loved real estate and interior design ever since. In fact, my husband and I have since bought, renovated, and sold multiple properties and I have learned a lot about when it's best to swing the hammer myself ... and when to hire a professional!
Having moved from country to country and city to city multiple times - with family and animals in tow - I got to test my 'we can handle anything’ skills that I had learned as a social worker, and have learned a thing or two about the ins and outs of relocating personally and professionally and how to make the process as seamless as possible.

Skiing and Skating On The Island
We all love to ski! Did you know that there is even a ski mountain here on the Island? It is only a two-hour drive north from the Cowichan Valley and ... it is definitely worth the trip!
I also love to skate. In fact, I have been skating on and off since I was little. First, with speed skating ... and then playing hockey!
The Island's 'Rainforest'
One of our favourite parts of living on the Island is the jungle-like rainforest and the never ending areas to explore and appreciate the wilderness. The kids love to climb, make forts and splash through the rivers.
Our 1-Year Adventure In New Zealand
This was the day that we started our caravan adventure in New Zealand. The four of us lived in this 23' x 7' little home on wheels and travelled all over the country, finding one amazing spot after another, while homeschooling the kids.
Hiking in New Zealand
We would literally open the map and pick the next spot that we wanted to visit! Living in a caravan helped us be motivated to get outside. We spent time outside almost every day swimming or hiking.
We love doing renos
Dave and I are almost always renovating either our own house or one of our investment properties. I love the creative process of bringing a room's potential to life. If you ask my kids where I am (when Im not at work), they will probably say “painting something white”....Our kids have always been involved in our renovations. Caidence’s favourite jobs are taking down walls and painting. Hannah is amazingly strong and great with angles and measuring. She can carry a sheet of plywood or drywall and lay or subfloor like a champ. Tristen has actual professional renovation skills. We are so lucky that he shares his framing and flooring skills and helps us with our projects!

The Raptor Centre is a great place to visit and learn about all of the local birds.

If you watched our tour guide video on the website here ... you may have caught the fact that it was actually my first time playing golf with my husband. Judging by the look on his face I think I did manage to impress him! :)
